Wsparcie dla Ukrainy

o działaniach LC Gdańsk Amber ⇒ https://www.facebook.com/LionsClubGdanskAmber

Drodzy Lioni, drodzy Przyjaciele,
Dear Friends
We are practically working here 24 hours a day with little sleep. Anyhow - below some information about.
We are also in direct contact with Ukrainian DG Olesya, PDG Valentin and PDG Serhii. They inform us about the situation in Ukraine and they also advise us about the best way to help Ukrainian people. We consult with them and keep them informed about our activities.
We also consult the needs with the Ukrainian diaspores in Poland.
Thousands of people are on the border with Poland. Doors to Poland are opened. Polish people have their hearts opened and offer refugees food, clothing, medicine, accommodations. Some people continue to move to the West - to other countries. Some of them want to stay in Poland (before the war, there were over 1 million Ukrainians living and working in Poland).
There are already over 360,000 refugees in Poland. The Polish government approved that refugees can travel by rail in Poland free of charge.
At the moment Polish Lions are providing basic products for border crossings with Ukraine (part of this will be  financed by an emergency grant from LCIF). We are also preparing transports of food and medicine directly to Ukraine, until we still can get them through the border – according to the Ukrainian diaspores this is most important now. We are taking care of the families of children who are treated free of charge in a specialist hospital near Krakow, we are preparing centers to accommodate and meet the needs of refugees in Poland, we welcome refugees in our homes, we look after groups of women and children. The club from Leszno is now preparing the transport of medicaments to one of the hospitals in Ukraine.
More and more people crossed the border without any contacts in Poland (without family or friends) - our Lions are starting to organize to welcome such Ukrainians to their homes too. Today my club friend sent 2 buses to the border, 16 people with children each, and we are already preparing a place for them in Gdańsk and Sopot.
The whole world is really talking - today they wrote from Brazil and others from Australia. DG, PDG and Lioni with their clubs who want to help are talking. Lioni from Slovenia wrote that they could accept several families.
Transport across the border is ok. Both sides of the border guards work well together.
It is done on very large logistics projects, and we volunteers without such difficult experiences. But we can do it - signals from the world give strength. I watch TV all the time - the news is cruel!
